Komorebi House
Fukui, Japan
The project is a day care center for elderly adjacent to an intensive care home for the elderlylocated in a snowy area in Fukui. The pillarless space of about 12 m × 12 m is a place like a plaza. It is warm, bright and pleasant even in winter for a large space due to the hybrid structure of the wood and steel, such as a modern private house. It will become a gathering place used for not only for elderly activities but also for children's whereabouts after school and local event in the village with advanced aging.
