The project, first assembled at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, is a modular and reusable display system designed for Massana School of Art and Design. The design needed to be self-supporting, easily transportable, flexible and adaptable to different contexts and contents. Therefore, the system is defined by a minimum steel structure that acts both as a support and a guide to configure different spaces and display different exhibition contents. The metal structure configures the minimum that defines a space: a corner. The corner allows an almost infinite combination defining multiple possible exhibition spaces. Since zigzag walls, unidirectional, crosses or complete “rooms”. The proportion and the composition of the metal wireframe follow DIN formats commonly used by students, standardized size, A2, A3, etc. Structure’s rods are very thin, 8mm thick, lightening its weight for easy transport and assembly. To ensure system stability, the rods are braced among them compensating its thinness. The structure is perforated thus allowing using mechanical fasteners to hold any type of item. The color of the structure is mutable being able to repaint it as required. On the occasion of the exhibition held at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, where students works where presented, 5mm DM panels lacquered acted as support of the objects and images that needed to be displayed. For the occasion the structure was painted pink and panels dark gray to highlight the display from existing stone walls.
