Issyk-Kul Lake Resort
This extensive project is designed to develop tourism on the shore of one of the largest lakes in Central Asia, located in the state of Kyrgyzstan. Issyk-Kul is a saltwater lake in a continental climate, surrounded by a natural mountain landscape.
The master plan includes a 100-room hotel, including all services and common areas, as well as five independent villas in the area overlooking the beach.
The curvilinear shape that characterizes the hotel's layout stems from the desire to follow the contours of the lake's coastline. From the floor plan, the curves become three-dimensional, defining the building with planes flexed into soft lines that embrace the volumes of the structure. While the curved planes create the solid parts of the structure and the roofs, all the vertical closures that form the skin of the interior spaces are marked by the lightness of the glass.
On the building's entrance, the façade delimiting the corridors of the guestroom floors is treated with a random alternation of glass and opaque panels. The continuity of this pattern and its sinuous structure is interrupted at two points by the solid, vertical white volumes that house the connecting systems.
On the lakefront, the horizontal lines of the parapets delimiting the guestroom terraces dominate; they too are animated by undulations thanks to the insertion of transparent portions at varying heights. A low volume, also enclosed by a roof that connects to the ground, opens with a glass wall onto the swimming pool.
The entire building connects to the surrounding park thanks to this system of curvilinear planes that rise from the level of the external greenery.
