The client—a Saudi Arabian prince—commissioned YODEZEEN to design a contemporary mosque as part of a larger 12,000 m² private complex in Riyadh. While the mosque would primarily serve the estate, it was also intended to be accessible to the public, as it faces a main road. The brief called for a design that respects the sacred spatial principles of Islamic architecture while reflecting YODEZEEN’s modern, sculptural aesthetic. The goal was to merge timeless spirituality with elevated materiality and thoughtful form.

We conducted in-depth research into Islamic architectural typologies to ensure full respect for spiritual and functional requirements, including orientation, circulation, and rituals. The mosque’s clean geometry is built from the world’s finest materials, including Italian travertine and decorative fluted plaster, with natural wool carpets chosen to comply with religious norms. A separate ablution space (wudu) was planned across the street, easily accessible through a public passage. The design features custom wall art and a serene yet powerful interior atmosphere. Accessibility was integrated from the outset, ensuring inclusive worship for all.
