Born 1965 in Altötting in the South Eastern part of Germany, Xaver Egger first made an apprenticeship as a carpenter. Later he studied Architecture at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich and Sculpture Design at the Academy of Arts in Düsseldorf ein. After the Diploma in 1992 he soon went into business for himself and founded SEHW.
Nowadays SEHW is a registered trademark, that operates all around the world and engages fifty employees in several branch offices. Besides the original architect practice SEHW is working in the fields of project development and general planning. Emphases are Buildings with a public use, mostly as a result of Architecture Competitions as well as Office Buildings, Hotels, Retail Buildings, etc. for Developers and Investors.
Several projects were awarded architecture prizes, as the Headquarter for the United Nations Human Rights Commission in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the extension of the City Hospital Lainz in Vienna, the so called "show case building" of the Europa-University Viadrina in Frankfurt/Oder, a Hotel at the shore of Lake Geneva in Montreux, Switzerland, the Central Building of the University of Applied Sciences in Wildau, to name a few.
Besides the work in his office, Mr. Egger is Professor at the University of applies Sciences in Bochum. His degree program Architecture and Project development is in its form so far unique. It reaches from the demografic questions of our times like the shrinking cities and the aging of the society to due diligence and developer calculations. The Aim of the Master degree program is, to bring urbanists, developers and architects closer together to create a better and more sustainable built environment.
In addition to that, he is involved in education and training of architects, lectures, congresses, seminars, exhibitions and workshops, that deals with the subjects urbanism, architecture and design.
He is married, has two children and lives and works predominantly in Berlin.
