In Abu Dhabi, the power of nature has an enormous effect on the landscape, the place and the people.
It is the light, temperature and colours of the environment in conjunction with the speed of technological advance and the cultural differences that add vitality and dynamism to daily life.
These impressions were translated into the design concept for the race track areas – entrance structures, the buildings of the drivers’ teams, media centre, pits, dragstar control centre and administration. Strong contrasts, proportional tension and materials reflecting the motorsport theme were used to create luxurious spaces full of dynamism and energy.
Planning for the entire construction started in October 2007. In October 2009, the first Formula 1 race was held at the new race track.
