This is a guesthouse next to the owner's house, where visitors can enjoy the climate and lifedtyale of Ohmi-shima.
In today's world, where we are covered by information and goods from all over the world, we are beginning to review the unique climate and location of a place. It can be a landscape, a community, or something that cannot be easily taken to another place and experienced.
Having experienced the lifestyle of Omishima, we wanted to create a "modern folk dwelling" that would stand in this place in this day and age. The inhabitants of the island are accustomed to making things by themselves, by devising ways to use the resources that can be obtained inexpensively in this land, and through the communal relationships of the village. Rather than simply imitating the old ways of building, creating architecture in the modern context of the island, while interacting with the local resources and people, will lead to the creation of a future climate.
