The sophisticated exterior shell of the Dorint Resort & Spa in Locarno/Riazzino catches the eye. The building's unique character is defined by the 3D elements embedded in the glazing. The large windows on the ground floor create a sense of visual lightness, making the structure appear to float above the ground.

Elegant and almost invisible.

For the architect, the primary focus when selecting the sun protection system was its elegant and seemingly seamless integration into the building’s façade. The hotel room windows are adorned with 89 Solozip II façade awnings. For an even more discreet appearance, the support and guide elements are embedded directly into the façade, ensuring an unobstructed view outside. Additionally, the zip-system façade awning allows for complete blackout and provides privacy from prying eyes. This solution is complemented by 25 Soloscreen IV awnings, which also impress with their elegant, modern design and versatility.

Both products incorporate environmentally friendly sand in the bottom rail for added weight. In addition to reliability and low maintenance, the elegant aesthetic of the Solozip façade awnings was a key factor in the project team's decision. Furthermore, the Griesser product aligns perfectly with the architectural linearity of the façade. With the Soloscreen, the architect found a solution that blends seamlessly into the glazing’s color scheme, making it nearly invisible. The option of black wire cables was also convincing, as it makes the supporting structure almost disappear, bringing the fabric itself to the forefront.
