"Terra" Apartment
With "Terra", the founders of the Taiwanese Office Ja studio have made their personal housing dream concrete – a quiet homage to material, colour and atmosphere. The name refers to the Latin word for earth, a central motif that stretches consistently through the room structure, colour climate and furnishing. A home has been created that unifies openness and withdrawal, clarity and warmth.
The floor plan is flowing and zoned at the same time: public areas such as the kitchen and living area form an open ensemble with generous movement flow – almost like moving freely over a soft floor. In contrast, the private zones lie deeper, pervaded with warm colours and create a withdrawn, almost cave-like feeling of security. Due to the colour structure with nuances such as ochre, misty grey and brick red, a spatial arrangement without hard edges has been created. Instead of permanent fixtures, flexible furniture dominates along with open shelves, which adapt to daily life. A climbing area for cats integrated into the wall is a playful gesture with design aspirations. Switches from the LS 990 range from JUNG in white are embedded into the colour composition where objects need to assert themselves, and in dark lacquered as a calmer contrast. A special detail is the KNX push-buttons in the colours of Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier Terre Sienne Brûlée 59. It takes up the brick red of the wall in the reception area – as a greeting gesture and a colourful statement both at the same time.
