To mark the centenary of the Maillart Bridge, the municipality of Aarburg wanted it to be illuminated at night. The bridge was designed by the well-known Swiss engineer Robert Maillart and is one of a series of highly interesting works of international significance. The landscape around the bridge is characterized by a narrow rocky spur on which the Aarburg fortress from the 12th century and the neo-Gothic reformed church are located. The filigree construction of the bridge and its dynamic arch shape with a flat deck is absolutely unique for a 100-year-old structure. By accentuating the edges, the filigree construction is highlighted in the dark with LED profile lights in warm white tones. The horizontal and curved light strips can be switched and dimmed separately using the control system. Using Plug'n'Play, 88 luminaires were installed quickly and easily over 132 meters. The Aarburg Maillart Bridge is operated at only 30% of the maximum possible brightness. This promises a long service life for the LEDs, minimal power consumption and low maintenance costs. An excellent example of energy-efficient accent lighting for historic buildings. The entire bridge consumes an output of approx. 312W. This corresponds to 1/3 of the power of a hairdryer.
