Barcelona – Architecture Studio Session | #07 - h3o architects
The Architecture Studio Sessions is a captivating series of ten events that is part of the official UNESCO-UIA World Capital of Architecture 2026 program in Barcelona.
Curated and coordinated by Miriam Giordano, Gaia Pellegrini, and John Hill, leading architecture studios will open their doors to share their workspaces, philosophies, and creative processes across ten engaging sessions. Each event combines architecture with music, featuring playlists curated by the architects themselves to foster connection among all participants in an open cultural format.
Organized by World-Architects and generously sponsored by Laufen, Roca, and Simon, in collaboration with Labóh and L35, the Architecture Studio Sessions promise to be an unforgettable journey of discovery through Barcelona's vibrant architectural landscape.
The studio
h3o Architects is an architecture studio based in Barcelona formed by Adrià Orriols, Joan Gener and Miquel Ruiz. Their practice promotes innovative and speculative design approaches in the fields of architecture and urbanism, addressing contemporary societal challenges such as climate change, social responsibility, and the hybridisation of human and non-human realities.
Notable projects include the transformation of the Convent of the Poor Clares into the new library in Arenys de Mar; a 155-housing-unit block at Kop-Dakpark (Rotterdam), winner of the Europan 15 Rotterdam Award; the renaturalisation of the main square in Castell d’Aro; and a new residential facility for the elderly in Es Migjorn Gran, Menorca—all currently in progress. One of their most recent projects is the temporary installation Nomadic Assembly at Mercat dels Encants, which served as the central stage of Model. Festival of Architecture of Barcelona 2023.
The space
The event will take place at h3o’s studio, located on one of the most emblematic streets in the Gràcia neighbourhood, Carrer Verdi. The studio features a pleasant garden, an outdoor space adjoining the neighbouring H2O gallery. Serving as the team’s workplace and research environment, the studio opens for the occasion as a setting for meeting and conversation. The garden extends the interior space and provides a more informal atmosphere for the exchange of ideas, encouraging direct reflection on the relationship between architecture, nature, art and the urban context.
