The stadium is already known as a worldwide reference of Catalonia and the city of Barcelona. That is why our culture’s different signs and symbols have been used as a starting point for developing this project. A poem from Josep Carner was used to explain Barcelona’s feeling and the modernism’s shapes and the Mediterranean suggested an approach full of curves. The certainty of the field, the grass, being actually the football spectacle focus introduced a whirling concept, both in the functional mode and the metaphorical mode: from the volume’s dynamic aspect to the rotatory mechanism of the roof.
